Last game of the year against the team who battered us 9-1 first day of the season and so the team was determined to show them how much we’ve improved. And despite a number of changes and a team full of fair weather players (myself included) we dominated from the very first minute.
Passing the ball around nicely and keeping things simple, we kept onto the ball for long periods with the opposition barely entering our half. We were creating lots of chances but couldn’t find the final finish needed to go 1-0 up. The opposition held on to go in at halftime 0-0.
More of the same in the second half and the team remained patient knowing it would hopefully only be a matter of time until one went in. And finally, a shot from Ata was spilt by the goalie and Humza rolled back the years to react first, following it up to slot home. We continued to dominate but couldn’t find that important second and with 10 minutes to go the opposition broke quickly and managed to equalise.
Even with 10 minutes left, we had chances to get the winner but it was to be one of those days and it ended 1-1.
The reserves are now unbeaten in 5 games, playing some very nice football but with a few too many draws. Inshallah, next year we’ll find that clinical streak and convert them into wins.
