League Match #22

With last minute changes and knocks over the course of the season starting to catch up with us, we took to the field with a new centre back partnership. Casuals came out strong in the first half, pressing us high and putting us under pressure from the off. Some teething problems and nervous moments saw Casuals have the better of the game and creating a number of chances in the first 15 minutes but fortunately we came away unscathed and weathered this early storm.

As the half wore on,the team grew in confidence and put together a number of moves that caused the opposition problems and we ended the half clearly on top, just at times lacking that bit of composure on the ball and picking out the right pass.

The second half started the complete opposite and we were putting together some good football and pressing Casuals back into their half. Dani made a fine run down the left and rode a challenge to make it into the box and laid off across the face of the goal,all that was missing was someone to tap it into the empty net.

This would prove to be the case for the remainder of the game,with the opposition goalie by far and away their man of the match, making 4 vital saves to stop us from getting that all important winning goal.

This was epitomised with just seconds to go and yet another attack saw the ball break loose on the edge of the box, where Shubz picked it up and managed to get a snapshot away through a whole bunch of bodies, only for the keeper to fling a hand out and push it around the post!

A fine team effort with each player putting in a shift and sticking to the game plan, we were just unfortunate not to get that illusive goal.
