League Match #7

Playing a team (formerly TFT) that has been one of our toughest rivals over the years in various leagues, we started in our normal possession and rhythm.

Our centre mid of Sajeel and Biloo controlled the tempo well and allowed Rehan to turn the opposition at will.

Mesh on his first-team debut, was a constant threat from the left wing.

We dominated the possession and eventually, the pressure told when a fast break down the right from ibby was cut back for Mitz to swivel and shoot into left-hand corner of the goal. Ibby then went close himself with a strike onto the right-hand post, following a blistering run and shot.

Mitz nearly made it a second with what would have been THE goal of the season, when he connected with an overhead kick on the volley about 12 yards out from another ibby cross that was actually behind him, and flew inches wide of the left-hand post.

The game turned on a disallowed goal from Mitz for offside and the temporary loss of concentration allowed the opposition to draw level. So despite having 80%+ possession we went in at half-time level.

We stuck to our passing game in the second half and created a number of clear chances, only to see them going the wrong side of the post.

Ibby, Mitz and Saghar came close and it seemed the opposition goal was living a charmed life, but eventually after a number of shots that were repelled the ball fell to ibby who slotted in the winner.

We played the final 10 mins in control and the defence which was solid throughout (baring the one lapse) saw the game out to take all 3 points and victory.
